The combined violent and property crime statistics as reported by county law enforcement agencies.
The FBI collects these data through the Uniform Crime Reporting (UCR) Program. |
2017-01-27 | 2020-07-16 |
The FBI's Uniform Crime Reporting (UCR) Program collects the number of offenses that come to the attention of law enforcement for violent crime and property crime, as well as data regarding clearances of these offenses. In addition, the FBI collects auxiliary information about these offenses (e.g., time of day of burglaries).
Violent crime is composed of four offenses: murder and non-negligent manslaughter, rape, robbery, and aggravated assault. Violent crimes are defined in the UCR Program as those offenses that involve force or threat of force. Property crime includes the offenses of burglary, larceny-theft, motor vehicle theft, and arson. The object of the theft-type offenses is the taking of money or property, but there is no force or threat of force against the victims. |

Release Dates Notes:
Release dates are determined by the following process:
When available, the actual release date as provided by the source is entered into the ALFRED database. If a release date is not available from the source, the release date given by our data providers is used. If a release date cannot be determined either from the source or from our data providers, the date that the series was first available in the St. Louis Fed's FRED database is used.
The release date list contains the dates when any series from this release was revised. Note that all series from a release do not necessarily revise on every release date.
